Avalanche Team, has been formed in the structure of General Directorate of Disaster Affairs (GDDA) -Temporary Housing Department in 1993. At the beginning, in despite of team have 2 person, now; team gives service with 6 specialists. In addition to essential duties which consist of settlement area avalanches, they make studies of highway, ski resort, transmission lines and give consultant services for avalanche protection. Besides, team, to make the people conscious about avalanche danger, prepares national and international seminars, presents articles, publish books (hand books, dictionaries), and brochures. Until today this mission resulted as, 28 articles (4 of them are international), 3 national 1 international seminars, 3 stands in exhibitions (2 national, 1 international), 9 different special courses about avalanche, remote sensing, disaster mitigation and emergency communication, 1 national and 3 international projects about Avalanche Risk Mitigation, Mapping, Zonning, Forecasting and Protection.
